KUALA TERENGGANU: A retired religious teacher suffered a loss of RM50,000 when a thief broke into his house at Kampung Banggol Tuan Muda on Saturday.
The victim was said to have withdrawn the money from a bank on Thursday to transfer it into another bank account.However, he took the cash home because the bank's business hours had ended.Deputy Criminal Investigation Department chief Superintendent K. Manoharan said the man decided to keep the money in his bedroom before depositing the money later."The victim discovered that his money was missing after waking up from his sleep about 7am. He also found the room strewn with his other belongings.
"We believe that the money was stolen while he and his family were asleep and nobody in the house was aware of the break-in."Manoharan said a neighbour had reported that there was an intruder who tried to break into his house but ran away after his wife screamed at the man about 3am.
