GEORGE TOWN: A burglar who beat a 76-year-old woman to death yesterday was nabbed shortly after he committed the heinous crime.
He was caught trying to flee by jumping from the rooftop of a shop in Jalan Gurdwara, near here. The 39-year-old man, who had broken into the same shop on four previous occasions, had sneaked out from a window after he allegedly killed Soh Lian Thye.
A witness said the man, a supermarket security guard, was spotted on the rooftop about 8am."I was shocked to see a man running on the rooftop. He ran across about 10 shops, jumped from the edge of the rooftop and landed on a backlane alley."His freedom, however, was shortlived as members of a Komtar voluntary patrol group had moved into the alley to nab him.
